Home Visits

Daytime.

We would ask patients to attend the surgery wherever possible, as the doctors are able to see many more people at our surgery than out visiting. If you need a visit the receptionist will ask for details of the patient and his/her condition. She will also need a contact number in case the GP wishes to telephone before going out to visit. This information will help us to plan our schedule and give priority to the most urgent cases.

Home Visit Policy.

The surgery policy for home visits is that all children will be expected to be brought in to the surgery. We can arrange for them to be seen in a side room which will ensure they are seen as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, we must enforce that lack of transport is not a valid reason for a visit.

Out of Hours.

When the surgery is closed we employ an out of hours service called Wigan Metro Medical Co-op to make house calls and give advice. The company is based in Ince and are available to give telephone advice as well as visiting patients. In some circumstances they may prescribe medication over the phone.
